Speaks English and Norwegian
Coming from an international background I enjoy exploring new cultures. Born to an English mother and Norwegian father, I was raised in Norway speaking both languages. During my studies I lived in four countries on two continents. I feel that I grow and develop by traveling and placing myself in new contexts, among new people, climates and situations. In a globalizing world I find that ‘sense of place’ is important and like integrating my knowledge of cultures into design.
I am a reuse fanatic. A quality I got to develop during my time here; I worked on a playground made from products and waste from a small, yet innovative town in the middle of forested Sweden.
I followed this project from commencement to completion, being involved in everything from designing climbing frames from spools, seeing the robot arrive on site and finally play with the children during the opening. I find great joy in giving obscure items a new lease of life, looking at discarded materials innate qualities to determine its potential. Heavily focusing on design and functionality. I like using this holistic thinking in architecture; considering the materials origin, functionality and its future employment or disassembly.
I relax by dancing, get away by sailing and smile among friends.
